We're not a travel agency, and we're not trying to sell you a country.
Ariel and Ace
We've spent our careers in international education and homestay programs, placing people in homes and communities far from where they started, and helping them actually settle in.
That work taught us something that shapes everything here: the difference between a trip that goes well and a move that goes well is almost never the destination. It's whether someone had honest information, a real look at daily life, and people on the ground who told them the truth.
Most of what's available to retirees considering life abroad is either a sales pitch from someone with property to sell, or a forum thread from a stranger. We wanted to build the thing we'd want our own parents to have.
Between us, that's a few decades of helping people land somewhere unfamiliar and make it work.

Between us we speak English, Spanish, Mandarin, and Portuguese. When you're the one who doesn't speak the language yet, that matters more than it sounds like it should.

How we work
We'd rather you decide well than decide fast.
A lot of companies in this space make money the moment you commit. We'd rather you spend a week in a homestay and discover the place isn't for you.
We tell you the hard parts.
Every destination has them: the bureaucracy, the language gap, the thing that's harder than the brochures admit. You'll hear those from us before you hear them from experience.
We stay in our lane.
We're guides, educators, and coordinators. Legal, medical, and real estate questions go to licensed local professionals, and we'll say so plainly rather than guess.
We answer the healthcare question first.
For most people over 55 it's the question underneath every other question, and it deserves a real answer instead of reassurance.
What GoldenAway isn't
It's worth being clear about this, because a few kinds of companies look similar from the outside.
Not a travel agency.
A vacation shows you restaurants and beaches. It tells you almost nothing about whether you could live somewhere on your income, get care when you need it, or build a life you'd want.
Not an immigration or investment firm.
We're not here to sell residency programs or passports, and we don't work only with people who can write large checks.
Not a relocation company that starts when you've already decided.
Most of our value is in the part before the decision, when you can still change your mind at no cost.
